Old and New

Culture Clash B, originally uploaded by Dr. Keats.

I'm fascinated by old signage painted on to brick walls of shops and other buildings. I love the fact that no-one has painted over it for all these years, and it's such a lovely glimpse into the past.

Same here. When I go to Auckland next I"ll try to take a photo of the side of one of the old buildings which still has an old painting of bell tea on it from the 1930s.

I saw something similar today driving down Bell St. There was a new shop with new signage, but some of it was falling down revealing what looked like 1950's signage. I wish I could have stopped for a photo.

wow - I used to live just down the road from this one - thanks for the photo - I loved this shop - we would remark very time we passed it!
