Oxo ad 1945
This one's from one of my vintage magazines, 'Woman and Home' from 1945 I think. What a lovely family. I wonder if Daddy's away at War.

Johnson's Polishing Wax
"...the new easy electric way." "And your dainty hands need not touch the floor or wax." Wish I looked this charming when I'm cleaning my floorboards!

Look like NEW!
Jumping forward a couple of decades, here's a Lux soap powder ad from 1944, that appeared in the Ladies Home Journal. I particularly like the vintage laundry product advertisments, as they take the task of doing the washing so seriously, and every product promises "the whitest whites", to "take the drudgery out of wash day" and now to keep your clothes looking like new! I can appreciate what a chore wash day was, as my mother had an old tub washing machine with external ringer that she did all the washing in up until I was about 20 years old (in 1990). She now LOVES her automatic washer, and I don't blame her.
Strawberry jell-o
You may recall my earlier posts, betraying a serious fondness for jell-o advertising. Here's one on the back cover of Needlework magazine, 1928. Look at that Deco jelly mould...the geometric goodness! Yay!

I must say, I have used these products, but can’t say I’ve ever reached “immaculacy, chrrm and exquisiteness”. I wish I knew what the “other two secret advantages that can’t be mentioned” are. As a teenager of the 80’s, I can only but imagine life before Kotex (and am very thankful for modern sanitary inventions!)
